Boudhanath temple is the biggest Chhorten ever made around the world. Overnight in Hotel
We take a jeep from Kathmandu to Sigatte. We pass the scenic green hills and views of white glittering mountains will keep you engaged all along the way. On our way, we pay our visit to Bhimeswor Temple in Dolakha. After an hour’s rough road drive, we reach to our campsite on the bank of the Tama Kosi River. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
You trek through normal flat land along the side of the river. You pass through rice terraced. There are small villages on your way which are inhabited by mixed community. Several times, you cross the jungles covered by orchid, few rhododendron trees and wild vegetation. Now you cross a suspension bridge to reach Jagat, a small town resided by people of mixed culture. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
The first part of your trails follows normally flat path, then it ascends and descends through the jungle. Several places, you cross through suspension bridge. There are numerous villages on your way. You can find small teashops and local shops at some of the places. Steeply climb up to Simigaon, a village inhabited by Buddhist and few Hindus. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
On the route you come across the Sherpa villages. The uphill trek is rich in different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. After the uphill trek you will now come across ascending and descending paths while enjoying the scenic beauty of the place. If it happens to be a season you will witness the Yak Naka a temporary Yak shed especially for the preparation of cheese and butter. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
The trek now ascends uphill through different varieties of plants and Rhododendron trees. You trek over the suspension bridges over the deep gorges in few places making the trek even more enchanting. You finally reach Beding which is a big Sherpa village. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
You can hike in and around for acclimatization and have panoramic views of mountains like Mt. Gauri Shanker, Tibetan mountains of the Tibetan boarder. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
This day you can explore the upper slopes of the valley for Snow Partridge or a visit to the nearby glacier lake. The trek path slightly ascends along the river bank. The place is an open path with fresh air and the charming sound of the river. You can have the panoramic view of the mountains as the trek moves forward. You will also come across the Sherpa village having their own specialties. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
Today is yet another day set aside for acclimatization. We can either take a rest or go for an excursion to the Yalung La pass. We climb up steadily as the path takes us to a vast amphitheatre at 4900m which is situated just below the pass. The view of Ramdun peak ice fall which furrows with streams is amazing. This is also an excellent place to view the Tsho-Rolpa glacier lake. We get stunning views in every direction: Yalung Glacier in the east, Ramdung Peak (5930m) in the south, Yalung Ri (5630m) in the west and some of the breathtaking Himalayan views to the north along the Tibetan border. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
We climb up to the dam that holds back the Tsho-Rolpa lake to prevent it from splitting the thin moraine and destroying the valleys below. We continue along the south bank. (The ancient route, marked on all maps, following the northern bank and passing through Chobu, which no longer exists. In fact, the moraines bordering the lake have all collapsed into it.) And after a 300m climb, we cross a disordered moraine area and scramble down the height we walked up. We set a campsite in a sandy amphitheatre, between the Tsho Rolpa and Trakarding glaciers. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
The path plunges on towards the Trakarding glacier. This is a huge and impressive and rocky area that gives way, from time to time, to large sections of bluish ice. We’ll struggle on towards a rocky spur, just beneath the Dolumbau glacier. It is now quite a venture to access the glacier. We need to climb up a rock face and to set a rope for the porters, helping them to scramble up the 160m before accessing the campsite area. This provides a fantastic panorama with the Trakarding glacier below and the great glacial wall of the Drolumbau glacier to the north: an incredible spot with views of countless streams running off the glacier, falling rocks and collapsing ice. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
The route to Drolumbau glacier is tricky and fairly steep but our efforts will be rewarded by the spectacular views of Tengi Ragi Tau (6943m), Bigphero-Go Shar (6729m), Dragkar-Go (6793m) with the views of various peaks towards and beyond the Tibetan border in the background. We progress through moraines and gentle slopes, cross glacial areas and head towards the summit. We set up camps 300m below the summit beyond an impressive rocky section. Overnight at Camp. Meals Included : Full Board
Today’s walk is relatively easy as we make a descend to Thame. We visit a picturesque monastery perched on the hillside just before entering the tiny Sherpa village of Thame. Thame is an important route for all the Tibetan traders and their yak caravans as they trek across the Nangpa La (5716m/18,752) on the Tibetan border to Namche Bazaar and beyond. Overnight at Tea House. Meals Included : Full Board
The trail descends gently for early one hour to Sanasa (3550m.). Now you have a glimpse of first really good views of the great peaks of the Khumbu including Mt Everest, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and Kusum Kangaru. Passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail descends steeply to a bridge over the river Dudh Koshi at Phunki Tenga (3250m.) Although exhausting due to the zigzag path, the trek has numerous attractions like rhododendron bushes, beautiful birds chirping and superb mountain scenery making your trek exciting. Tyangboche is famous passing by several villages and numerous teashops, the trail ascends steeply to Sanasa where local Sherpa people sell the Tibetan goods. The way from Sanasa to Namche has small ups and downs with view of forests, scenery and mountains. Overnight at Tea House. Meals Included : Full Board
The last day of your trek leads from Namche Bazaar via Monjo to Lukla. The trek is pleasant, except for few short uphill climbs and then down to the Bhote- Koshi River crossing it three times. The last uphill climb of 45 minutes will bring you to Lukla for your overnight stay. Overnight at Tea House. Meals Included : Full Board
You take an early morning flight back to Kathmandu which takes about 35 minutes. Overnight in Hotel

As vaccination requirements change frequently, we suggest you to consult your doctor at least 2 months prior to the beginning of your trip. We recommend protection against malaria, tetanus, typhoid, hepatitis and polio.
The main health consideration during Rolwaling Trekking is Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS). You may experience some mild symptoms initially, such as headache, lethargy, nausea and difficulty sleeping, but these should lessen within a few days. To avoid Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS), people take pills called ‘Diamox’. You can also use these pills after consulting with your doctor and purchase them in Kathmandu. Our itinerary will allow your body to acclimatize properly and handle the low oxygen rate. If you have ever suffered from altitude sickness, or have a heart or breathing complaint, we highly recommend you to consult your doctor about your suitability for trekking in high altitude areas before booking. We suggest that you take some pain-killing pills with you and enough medicine for cold, diarrhea, nausea and fever. Some nasal ointment and throat-moistening pills will greatly help for those who are sensitive to chilly or freezing weather conditions.
This is a long trek that goes far beyond the normal haunts of trekkers and tourists, to remote areas of the country where the landscapes are wild and untamed and where the local inhabitants have seen little change in their way of life for centuries- untouched corners of an increasingly crowded planet. It is physically challenging, likely to include unfavorable weather conditions and strenuous activities, such as, climbing/ scrambling across high passes.
Rolwaling Trek is a fully Camping Trek. Camping trek means sleeping in tents. On a camping trek, the tents provided are ‘Two men dome’ or ‘A’ shaped. Foam mattress with insulation underneath is provided for sleeping. Clients need to have their own sleeping bag. Bags or cloth packs are used as pillows. If you wish, you can bring your own ‘Air pillow’.
We provide three tasty, plentiful and nutritious meals daily with a variety of local and Western dishes. To start the day, breakfast consists of a choice of porridge, muesli and cereal followed by omelet, fried or scrambled eggs with chapattis or bread. Lunch is generally a selection of salad, cooked vegetable dishes, pasta and traditional breads.
After a long day on the trail, dinner is a hearty 3 course meal - soup, followed by a variety of vegetable, meat, rice and pasta dishes and completed with a simple dessert. Tea, coffee and hot chocolate are also provided at all meals. We use as much fresh produce as possible and special diets are regularly catered for. The leaders are able to maintain very tight controls on health and hygiene in the kitchen with respect to general cleanliness and food preparation and also within the group with respect to personal hygiene. This has allowed us to maintain remarkably high standards of health over many years of trek organization - and good health is vital to an enjoyable and successful trek and climb. All foods are well cooked and vegetables are treated by potassium permanganate or iodine. Boiled water is served for drinking. Antiseptic soaps and potassium or iodine treated water are provided for washing. Special dietary requirements can always be catered for.
Your typical day begins with a hot cup of tea brought to the tent at about 6 am, followed by a bowl of hot water for washing. After packing all your bags and having a good breakfast, we set off on the morning’s walk. All you need to carry is a small day pack containing water bottle, camera, sun cream, hat, rain jacket and a warm jumper, just in case. The porters will carry the rest of your gear for you. After walking for 3-4 hours, we stop for lunch at around midday. The afternoon’s walk is generally shorter and we arrive at camp in time for afternoon tea. The remainder of the afternoon can be spent exploring the nearby villages, doing a bit of washing or simply relaxing with a good book. On some days, we will arrive at camp by lunchtime and the entire afternoon will be free.
Dinner is usually served between 6 and 7 pm. After dinner, the evening will often be spent playing cards and talking with the crew, or perhaps even joining in some singing and dancing, before heading off to the tent for a well-earned sleep.
You drive from Kathmandu to Sigatte by private vehicle and after the completion of trek you will be flying from Lukla to Kathmandu by domestic plane.

Additional Information
The Tashi Lapcha Pass trekking region lies in the northeastern part of Nepal, forming a natural high-mountain gateway between the remote Rolwaling Valley of Dolakha District and the famous Khumbu (Everest) region of Solukhumbu District. Situated within the boundaries of Gaurishankar Conservation Area on the Rolwaling side and bordering Sagarmatha National Park on the Khumbu side, the pass sits at an impressive altitude of 5,755 meters (18,881 ft). This rugged and glaciated pass is surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks, including Gaurishankar, Melungtse, and Pachermo Peak, and offers trekkers the unique opportunity to traverse two distinct yet equally stunning trekking regions of Nepal. Access to the Tashi Lapcha Pass typically begins with a trek through the Rolwaling Valley from Dolakha and ends in the Everest region near Thame or Namche Bazaar, making it a remarkable trans-Himalayan adventure.
The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek is a special experience because it combines the raw, untouched beauty of one of Nepal’s most secluded valleys with the thrill of crossing into the iconic Everest region through a challenging high-mountain pass. Trekkers get to experience two contrasting worlds in a single journey – the peaceful isolation, rich Sherpa and Tamang culture, and pristine landscapes of the Rolwaling Valley, followed by the vibrant Sherpa heartland of the Khumbu with its renowned Himalayan vistas. Crossing the Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755 m) is both a physical and emotional highlight, offering breathtaking panoramas of towering peaks, glaciers, and rugged alpine terrain. Unlike many popular routes, this trek remains largely untouched by mass tourism, allowing for a deep sense of wilderness, adventure, and cultural authenticity. For experienced trekkers seeking both solitude and iconic mountain scenery, it delivers a rare, once-in-a-lifetime Himalayan journey.
The Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek covers an approximate distance of 100 to 110 kilometers (62–68 miles), depending on the specific route and side trips taken along the way. Starting from the Rolwaling Valley in Dolakha District, the trail gradually ascends through remote villages like Simigaon, Beding, and Na before reaching Tsho Rolpa Lake and climbing towards the high Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755 m). After crossing the pass, the route descends into the Khumbu region, passing through settlements such as Thame and Namche Bazaar before ending at Lukla for the return flight to Kathmandu. The trekking distance is spread over 16–18 days, with daily walking hours ranging from 5 to 8 hours, including sections on rugged trails, glaciers, and steep mountain passes. The challenging terrain, combined with the altitude and remoteness, makes the distance feel more demanding than on many other treks, but the breathtaking scenery and sense of achievement make every step worthwhile.

During the Rolwaling Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek, attached toilet and bathroom facilities are generally limited and depend on the location and type of accommodation available along the route. In the lower sections of the Rolwaling Valley, such as in larger villages like Simigaon, Beding, and Na, some teahouses or lodges may offer basic rooms with attached bathrooms, though these are often simple with squat or Western-style toilets and cold water. However, as the trek progresses into higher and more remote areas, especially near Tsho Rolpa Lake, Tashi Lapcha Pass, and on the Khumbu side before reaching Namche Bazaar, most accommodations only have shared toilets and washing areas, often located outside the rooms. Hot showers, if available, are usually at an additional cost and may be bucket showers heated by gas or solar power. Trekkers should be prepared for rustic conditions in high-altitude sections and carry essential toiletries and personal hygiene items for comfort.
Having travel insurance that covers high-altitude adventure activities (above 5,000 m) is mandatory. This includes contingencies like flight disruptions, accidents, and emergency evacuations.

However, please ensure that the policy covers trekking up to 6,000 m altitude. While these are just suggestions, the policies, and coverage may vary accordingly. Contact these insurers directly to inquire about their offerings before making a purchase.Phone and gadgets charging facilities on the Tashi Lapcha Pass Trek are available but can be limited, especially in the higher and more remote sections of the route. In the lower Rolwaling Valley villages like Simigaon, Beding, and Na, most teahouses and lodges offer charging services for a small fee, usually powered by local electricity or solar panels. As you approach Tsho Rolpa Lake and the high Tashi Lapcha Pass (5,755 m), charging options become scarce due to the remoteness and lack of infrastructure, so it’s wise to carry a fully charged power bank or solar charger. Once you enter the Khumbu region, villages such as Thame and Namche Bazaar have better charging facilities, often available in dining halls or rooms for an extra cost. Since this trek passes through rugged wilderness and high-altitude areas, trekkers should plan ahead for limited access to electricity and ensure they have reliable backup power solutions to keep phones, cameras, and GPS devices functional throughout the journey.
We conduct Group Departure Treks as well as Private Treks. If you have your own group, we provide you discounts based on your group size.
