Pashupatinath Temple
Situated 5 kilometers east of Kathmandu City, Pashupatinath temple is one of the holiest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated amidst a lush green natural setting on the bank of the sacred Bagmati river, the temple built in pagoda style has jilted roof and richly carved silver doors. Visitors will be permitted to view the temple from the east bank of Bagmati River, entrance in the temple being strictly forbidden to all non Hindus. Pashupatinath is the centre of annual pilgrimage on the day of shivaratri which falls in the month of February/March. Behind the temple are the cremation grounds.
Boudhanath Stupa
This Stupa, 8 kilometers east of Kathmandu City, is one of the biggest in the world of its kind. It stands with four pairs of eyes in the four cardinal direction keeping watch for righteous behaviour and human prosperity. This Buddhis Stupa was built by King Man Deva at the advice of the Goddess Mani Jogini. It is built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels. The shrine is ringed by houses of Lamas or Buddhist priest.
Swayambhunath Stupa
Swayambhunath is located approximately 4 kilometers and this Buddhist Stupa is said to be 2000 years old. The Stupa which forms the main structure is composed of a solid hemisphere of brick and earth supporting a lofty conical spire capped by a pinnacle of copper gilt. Painted on the four sided base of the spire are the all seeing eyes of Lord Buddha. This hill is a mosaic of small Chaityas and Pagoda temples.
Kathmandu or Basantapur Durbar Square
Listed as a cultural World Heritage site by UNESCO, Kathmandu Durbar Square is a cluster of ancient temples, palaces, courtyards and streets that dates back to12th - 18th centuries. At the square, you will find Hanumandhoka Palace Museum, Taleju Temple, KumariGhar(House of the Living Goddess), Kasthamandap and other temples and buildings as old as the city itself.
From Kathmandu, you will take an early morning flight to the lake-side city of Pokhara. The flight takes about 30 minutes and upon your arrival there, you will be first taken to your hotel for your check-in. The sight-seeing tour of the city will start at 11:00.
The places for Sightseeing Tour in Pokhara
World Peace Pagoda: World Peace Pagoda, a massive Buddhist stupa is situated on the top of a hill on the southern shore of Phewa Lake. Besides being a impressive sight in itself, the shrine is a great vantage point which offers the spectacular views of the Annapurna range, Phewa Lake, and the Pokhara city. The stupa is rich in Buddhist architecture and arts and its bright white colour adds extra beauty and soothing feelings to the heart. Shanti literally means Peace in Nepal thus names ‘Shanti Stupa’ in Nepalese language.
Mountain Museum: More than seventy thousand domestic and international tourists visit International Mountain Museum (IMM) every year. IMM records, documents and exhibits the past and present developments related to mountain and mountaineering around the world. The museum contains three main exhibition halls: Hall of Great Himalayas, Hall of Fame and Hall of World Mountains.Inside the museum, there are exhibits on famous peaks, descriptions of famous mountaineers, the culture and lifestyle of mountain people, flora and fauna including geology, in an attempt to represent the traditional culture and values of the Nepalese people
Davis Fall: The Davis fall on the other hand, is perhaps one of the most famous waterfalls in the country. It is also called “the Patale Chhango” and is located in the southern flank of the Pokhara valley. The waterfall has water collapsing and falling through many gorges in the rocks below leaping along many rocky portals while doing so.
Gupteshwor Cave: The revered Gupteshwor Cave is situated 2 kilometers away from the Pokhara airport. The entrance to the cave is right across from Davis fall and it is almost 3 km long. With some big hall-sized rooms and some passages, exploring the cave is also sometimes an adventure where you have to crawl on all four. This cave holds special value to the Hindus since a phallic symbol of Lord Shiva is preserved here in the same condition as when it was discovered.
Boating at Fewa Lake: At the end of the tour, you will be boating on the tranquil Phewa Lake. Situated at an altitude of 800 meters, the Phewa is the second largest lake in Nepal. With the Barahi Island Temple in the middle of the lake, it is the most important religious place in Pokhara. Built almost in the middle of the Phewa Lake, this two-storied pagoda is dedicated to the female force Shakti. The reflection of Mount Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna can also be seen in its serene waters. The thick pine forest on the adjoining southern slopes of the lake is also quite haunting.
Starting from Pokhara the drive to Phedi is of around 45 minutes. On you reach Phedi, you start the trek. Climb the stone staircase through the rhododendron forest and make your way into the picturesque Dhampus village. From Dhampus, you get the views of the peaks of Annapurna range from the southern side along with other snowcapped mountains like Machhapuchhre (6993m) and Lamjung Himal (6883m). You and your children can interact with the local Gurung people, especially the children, and allow yourself to be awed by their simplicity and innocence. Overnight in teahouse.
Today you start the trek with a gentle climb through the rhododendron and oak forests and make your way to Pothana. After a short rest in Pothana, you begin the climb through the stone staircase. This stone staircase was laid by the village development committee for the inflow and outflow of goods. You arrive at the Australian Camp in about 2 hours. In the afternoon, you can go for a short walk through the jungle surrounding the camp. From here, you can enjoy fantastic views of the Annapurna massif shining behind the traditional houses of the nearby settlement. Overnight in teahouse.
Hike down along the rocky trail for a couple of hours to reach Kande village. A private vehicle will be waiting for you in Kande. From here, you take a short drive to Naudanda. You will be transferred to the resort in Naudanda where you can enjoy the local meals and relish the views of Annapurna range and Machhapuchhre (6993m). Overnight at Resort in Naudanda.
You leave Naudanda and take a short drive to Pokhara. Relax around lakeside or you can indulge yourself in last minute shopping or any activities of your choice.
Drive from Pokhara to Damauli Pool, which is the Lower Seti River. After reviewing some skills needed for the float, we begin this interesting section of the river. The rafting here is grade 2⁄3 with amazing views of the river gorge. After several hours of rafting we take out and set up camp river side where we can relax and revel in the day’s excitement on the river or take a swim from our camp at Saran Ghat River Beach.
After breakfast at hotel in Pokhara, you will begin your journey to Chitwan. The route will present you superb views of lush green hills, rivers, waterfalls, and dense forests. It will take us approximately five hours to reach Chitwan. Upon reaching Chitwan we will take a short jungle excursion and get back to the hotel for the overnight stay.
