Overview
There are some excellent mountain bike trails in the Kathmandu valley. Mountain Bike ride will transport you to a delightful world of forested slopes, small villages, secret temples, and views of all the major peaks of the Nepal Himalaya, from Makalu to the Annapurnas, which offer some fantastic, moderately difficult single track riding along former jeep roads.
We will take in every sight, sound, taste, and smell that the "Middle Hills" of Nepal have to offer during our mountain bike tour. We will take in every sight, sound, taste, and smell that the "Middle Hills" of Nepal have to offer during our journey. Along the way, we will stop at monasteries, charming villages nestled into the forests, the historic cities of Basantapur, Bhaktapur, and Patan, the hill resort of Nagarkot with its sunrise view of the entire Nepal Himalaya, and many temples. We are off the usual tourist path, but we are so close to Kathmandu's chaos. This is an enjoyable but challenging ride that is best suited for riders with some off-road biking experience due to a few technical trails.

Pashupatinath Temple
Situated 5 kilometers east of Kathmandu City, Pashupatinath temple is one of the holiest temples dedicated to Lord Shiva. Situated amidst a lush green natural setting on the bank of the sacred Bagmati river, the temple built in pagoda style has jilted roof and richly carved silver doors. Visitors will be permitted to view the temple from the east bank of Bagmati River, entrance in the temple being strictly forbidden to all non Hindus. Pashupatinath is the centre of annual pilgrimage on the day of shivaratri which falls in the month of February/March. Behind the temple are the cremation grounds.
Boudhanath Stupa
This Stupa, 8 kilometers east of Kathmandu City, is one of the biggest in the world of its kind. It stands with four pairs of eyes in the four cardinal direction keeping watch for righteous behaviour and human prosperity. This Buddhis Stupa was built by King Man Deva at the advice of the Goddess Mani Jogini. It is built on an octagonal base inset with prayer wheels. The shrine is ringed by houses of Lamas or Buddhist priest.
Patan is the nicest old royal place of the Kathmandu valley. Among three major cities of the valley first human settlement was in Patan. This city also is known as Lalitpur(City of fine arts). The meaning of Patan is flat land. According to the history here was not the stable king. Sometimes it would be under Kathmandu and some time under Bhaktapur. The icons of Narashimha(half human half lion) and the Hanuman(monkey god) is located at the entrance gate. Krishna Temple( made out of stones with 21 pinnacles), pagoda temples, main palace with Keshav Narayan Chok, art museum, 5th century public tap known as manga Hiti, five stored temple( Kumbheshwor) and golden temple(mini monkey temple with some Bihar) and oldest Buddhist stupas around Patan are the main attractions of Patan city. There are many artists who make the icons of the Hindu and Buddhist deities. Krishna Janmashtami festival and some other Newari festivals are nice to see in Patan.
Beginning in Kakani, ride east (4km) up the ridge to the 4x4 vehicle track's trailhead (2010m). From this hill, you can see mountains in Tibet and China, as well as the Himalayas from west to east. There are numerous ranges can be seen, including the Rolwaling range, the Langtang range, the Ganesh Himal range, the Annapurna range, and the Solokhumbu range. We will make our way towards the Tamang villages situated on the hillside by descending via the national forest. After lunch, the journey ascends to Suryachaur (altitude 1960 meters). The trail descends to Gurjay Bhanjang (altitude: 1850 m) after lunch, where we will join the national park of Shivapuri. Here surrounded by the wild forest will be our first night outside Kathmandu. Overnight at Tea House.
The trip begins with a ride up to the main 4x4 trail, which then heads east. The trail passes via waterfalls and a number of picturesque vistas amid lush woodlands. It is also teeming with wildlife, ranging from rare sightings of leopards to unusual birds. In certain spots, we may need to carry our bikes due to the state of this track. For today's journey, a packed lunch will be given. We spend the second night at Chisapani, which has stunning views of the mountains, that evening. Overnight at Tea House.
In Chisapani, the mornings are even more breathtaking. You can even make out Everest on a clear day. Enjoy a hot cup of tea while taking in the breathtaking view of the Himalayas and the brisk weather.
Nagarkot is where you'll be going next. In the Kathmandu Valley, Nagarkot is one of the most popular hill stations. There is a downhill portion of the journey from Chisapani. Riding the single track downhill is enjoyable. As you ride down, the magnificent Himalayas come into view. You will arrive at Jhule after a short ride downwards. a tiny community where tourists rest and eat lunch. You will ride downhill going forward.
The journey continues with some down and uphill ride. There are great views of small villages and, river and ChanguNarayan. ChanguNarayan is another renowned destination inside Kathmandu valley.
After that, we begin our ascent towards Nagarkot. You'll be riding upward again on this strenuous route through a thick forest. Bicyclists and hikers are using this path more and more frequently. We brake hard after the exhausting climb, rewarded by some amazing vistas. Capture as many images as you want. You will eventually arrive in Nagarkot. Here you may unwind and enjoy yourself. Overnight in Hotel.
You shouldn't miss the stunning sunrise from Nagarkot. Nagarkot is well-known for its breathtaking Himalayan views and sunrises. Few mountains can be seen from here, including Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar, and Langtang. On a clear day, supposedly, you can even make see Everest.
Our journey will resume after breakfast. And Namobuddha is the next place you should go. It's exhilarating to follow the downward route to Nala. The traditional village of Nala is a representation of the old Newari culture. You can visit the Bhaktapur Durbar square if you'd like; it's rather close to the tracks you take. Bhaktapur is unique in its rich culture, and it will be a great experience.
We shall go by Sanga further down Nala. There, on a hill, rests the tallest statue of the Hindu deity Lord Shiva. You can observe the diversity of culture and civilization when you arrive in Dhulikhel. Beautiful views of the mountains can be seen from Dhulikhel. We will travel to Namobuddha from Dhulikhel. Amazingly serene Buddhist Monastery in Namo Buddha is stunning. It is said that this is the exact location where Lord Buddha gave up on his body. While you're here, take in the alluring Buddhist customs and culture. Make sure to explore this area as well, as there are some thrilling single track and steep trails through the forest. Overnight in Hotel.
You get a distinct vibe at Namo Buddha in the morning. You're hearing some amazing Buddhist chants, and this is truly an amazing occasion. We'll keep moving in the direction of Panauti. Another historic village, Panauti, is highly known for both its delicious Newari cuisine and its rich Newari culture. You can observe the locals going about their daily business and the elderly congregating to talk about various matters.
From Panauti to Lakuri, you can see beautifully cultivated fields while riding. Small teahouses there are places to rest and meet new people. It's a challenging and thrilling ride uphill to Lakuri Bhanjyang. Riding next to the massive Phulchoki Hill—the highest point in the Kathmandu Valley—will be your experience. The view is breathtaking from Lakuri. The mountains, towering above you, and the valley below are both visible. You will be able to see the entire Langtang mountain range on a clear day. Enjoy your final destination and a pleasant stay at the hotel before our return to Kathmandu tomorrow. Overnight at Tea House.
Our final day of mountain biking will be equally thrilling as the previous ones. Lakuri Bhanjyang's mornings are lovely, offering breathtaking views of the mountains and valley. The downhill Jeep track is thrilling. There are many single tracks to follow, as well. After riding for a few hours, you will be visiting the well-known Patan Durbar Square. Another historic city with lots of stunning landmarks is Patan. When visiting Patan, the Durbar Square may be the most worthwhile destination. The historical museum is one of the must-see locations.
With so many places to visit, you can spend as much time exploring Patan as you like. After an enjoyable trip to Patan, you can return to Kathmandu. After resting and getting changed, return to Basantapur Durbar Square for another exploration. Enjoy your time in this magnificent city and have a blast here at Thamel. Overnight in Hotel.
